New Zombies, Run! 5K Training out today for iOS

Grab those running shoes and watch out for zombies. Before you know it, you’ll be running a 5k marathon. Well, that’s what the new iOS app (coming soon to Android) Zombies, Run! 5k Training hopes to achieve by pulling you into a zombie narrative that features you in the story. Developed by Six to Start and novelist Naomi Alderman, 5k Training is a prequel to Zombies, Run!, designed as an introduction to beginners who aren’t experienced with running and need a little motivation to start.

5k Training’s goal is to make a 5k runner out of a couch potato in just eight weeks with the help of professional running coaches, Julia Jones and Shauna Reid. It offers 40 minute workouts set in a 24 episode narrative voiced through your headphones in accordance with walking, jogging and running (even on a treadmill, if you prefer) to get away from zombies that want to eat you. In addition to a new interface, users will have access to free maps and stat tracking with a new feature called ZombieLink.

You are Runner 5, the hero of Zombies, Run!, except you’re not a hero yet. 5k Training will help you become that hero so you can collect supplies and fortify the town of Abel in Zombies, Run! While Zombies, Run! is technically a game/exercise hybrid that makes running more fun, 5k Training is a little bit less gaming and more exercising, but it aims to keep players immersed in the story of the Zombies, Run! universe. With over 175,000 copies of the original Zombies, Run! sold worldwide, Six to Start must be doing something right.

Purchase Zombies, Run! 5k Training today for iPhone and iPod Touch at $3.99. When you’ve mastered that, you’ll be ready for the original Zombies, Run! currently available on Android and iOS devices. Six to Start is also hard at work preparing a new story to be told in Zombies, Run! Season 2 and more updates are ahead for Season 1. What better way to go for a jog than having a zombie chase you for motivation?
