VIDEO GAME ICON SERIES ROUND 3
Round 1
Round 2
Hello readers sorry for the delay in this weeks Video Game Icon Series. Last week we saw Commander Shepard edge out Ezio in a close vote. This week’s head to head includes a cowboy and a spartan in an epic battle. The world that Rockstar built in Red Dead Redemption was the perfect setting for John Marston’s epic story to be told. The Master Chief needs no introduction and has been a huge figure in gaming for years. Some might argue that Master Chief holds the upper hand as an Icon and this is no competition. I think that John Marston’s story was so epic he deserves to be in the same company as the Halo Spartan.
SPARTAN vs COWBOY WHO GETS YOUR VOTE?!?!
JOHN MARSTON
The team at Rockstar gave us gamers a story and world that lead us to form a real connection with this character. The wild west had been a rocky road in video game history but John gave a rebirth of the lawless land last year.
MASTER CHIEF
The Spartan who is credited with launching the original Xbox and Microsoft’s entry into the video game console world is a given icon. The world of gaming is growing by the minute and new icon worthy characters are created yearly. The competition is getting tough and has Master Chief finally worn out his welcome?
JOHN MARSTON vs. MASTER CHIEF
- JOHN MARSTON (63%, 5 Votes)
- MASTER CHIEF (37%, 3 Votes)
Total Voters: 8
Games: Halo, Red Dead Redemption, Platforms: PS3, Xbox 360, Genres: Action Adventure, Shooter, Publishers: Microsoft Game Studios, Rockstar Games, Developers: Bungie, Rockstar Games

Master Chief has had a much bigger impact. I really do enjoy the Halo universe. John is okay and everything, certainly a breath of fresh air. But John 117 is such a bigger icon.
I really wanted to say Marston as I’ve never been a big fan of the Halo games, over-rated I might even say, especially 3 onwards. I still have a bad taste in my mouth from the ending of RDR though and for that alone I can’t possibly side with Marston.
John Marston is the MAN!!!!! Master Chief is cool, but he it’s time for a new KING of the Hill.
