I have a high appreciation for the art of video games. Programmers, writers, and designers are all equally important in creating a video game but I have much more passion for the artistic side of that triangle.
While it isn’t exactly new news, I find it a huge leap for the video game industry as a whole that on March 16, 2012 – September 30th, 2012 will be running an exhibit revolving around video game art. Go here: http://www.artofvideogames.org to cast your votes on which games should be involved in the exhibit.
There will be five “era’s” of gaming.
START! 1970s-1980s
8-BIT 1980s-1990s
Bit Wars! 1990s
Transition 1990s-2000s
Next Generation 2000s-Current
Be sure to cast your votes, and become a part of history.
Additionally this has inspired me to do a regular editorial on the art of video games, called “Vector Tank”.
Games: Video Games, Platforms: TBA, Genres: Productivity, Publishers: Addict of Fiction, Developers: eXPansion
