We, the ever idiotic team of Addict of Fiction got to poke the bee hive of workers over at Rebellion about Sniper Elite V2.
Will we see more of the background of “Karl”? No, we don’t look to develop the hero character back story. He works better as a ghost.
Is there going to be any nods to fans of the first game or of the books? SEv2 takes all the best elements from the first game, as in terms of mechanics and features it worked so well.
Can we expect the “Kill or capture” system to play a big part in the story (Particularly the ending?) PS: This is basically choice making. No, that’s not something we’ve incorporated.
Will we see more choice in our arsenal? I love blowing crap up in various ways. There are plenty of weapons and a load of inventory/explosive items to play around with!
Will you expand on the trip wire booby traps? This is another example of stealth gameplay we wanted to work into the game. Trip Mines were available in the first game, but the levels and AI didn’t tie things up properly, meaning you could pretty much forget about setting traps. In SEv2 we’ve put a bit more emphasis on this feature. So for example if you don’t lay a trip mine in the doorway of a building you’re in, you may not hear that the AI have got into the building and are heading up the stairs. You can be flanked if you don’t protect your position.
Will this game blow “Sniper Ghost Warrior” to hell and back? Or is this not a fair question due to the different game play? Gameplay between the two is different for the most part. Obvious comparisons can be made with the sniping combat, but really we’ve taken things down a different path, trying to get the player to engage intelligently and really think through the combat scenario presented to them. It would be disrespectful to go shouting out about how much better we are than the competition.
Will the various factors, such as wind speed and bullet drop play a large role in the game? Can we expect an expansion on that? SEv2 has a full bullet ballistics system in place. So all such elements are accounted for and calculated.
Can we expect an over the top level filled with more over the top slow motion than a doped up hedgehog? We have some great results from some of your shots, away from the kill camera itself.
Can we expect customization? If so, can you please put a pink tutu in the game. Currently this isn’t planned, but the PC version will have support after release and we’ll be listening to all ideas on how to grow the product, the community and of course the fun in the title.
Okay, so the game may not be what I’m looking for, but real sniping stealth lovers are in for a treat I’m sure!
