Pokemon has always been mixed to me, I always end up buying it, hammering it then thinking “I’ve played this before” aside from the few awesome ones, like snap and stadium. I do tend to enjoy playing the games, but it’s shocking how little they try now.
I managed to give Pokemon Conquest a whirl, and it was actually like playing a whole new game for once! You play as a war lord, and thus command multiple Pokemon. At once though, not along your belt one at a time, but all at once. It’s an interesting new take.
The upsetting thing is that graphically, it’s still the same as Final Fantasy Tactics advance. You can link your Pokemon to unlock extra power and strengths, as well as use warlord skills.
The game really felt like the Pokemon franchise is dying, and they don’t want to give up. The whole concept is out of date, we’ve seen this before, but with that being said, they are trying new things atleast.
The gameplay is sluggish at best, and it’s just not really the kind of game that grips me, but I must admit, hitting multiple Pokemon with one attack was pretty cool.
All in all the game just doesn’t have anything going for it. It feels as though they just took an old game and slapped on some Pokemon stickers.
