We all have our own preferences and favourite games, all opinions are my own and I’ll be get trolled for it. But honestly, I don’t care. Why not share your favourite and most disappointing games with us?
So in order of least disappointing (Yet still disappointing) here are my top 2011 disappointments
First up, Skyrim: While the game is beautiful to look at and will take a very very long time to do everything. It still lacks what many others had, they take steps backwards not forwards. Someone said to me once “Do you not like Skyrim because you loved Morrowind?” I said “No, I do like Skyrim, I just think that there were more things in Morrowind” they had to try to sell the game back then, so they thought outside of the box. Now they know it will sell they don’t really try for innovation. However all that being said, I still enjoyed the game.
Batman Arkham City: What happens when you make a game with the same bosses and dull gameplay? You open the doors for a better game, you hopefully raise the bar, and they did. Just not much. Batman Arkham City was enjoyable, sure. But it was short, easy and the fighting became really dull. The “quests” stumbled over each other like a bunch of legless acrobats. But what really pissed me off was the fact they lied so much about it! I know a lot of you read my Batman: Arkham City review, so I’ll shorten this: No Robin/Nightwing, No sharing (You have to buy Catwoman DLC to experience the full game, so if you have multiple xboxs then screw you.) They were pretty wide scale, pissed a lot of people off. And we over looked it. Well, for the most part.
Okay, so now the two that were disappointing but only to an extent are out of the way we’ll move on to things that people may expect a little more…
Gears of War 3, Okay the gameplay is fun like really fun! But the story really just felt like Epic were saying “Guess what fans? Fuck you! Want to know why the queen looks human? Buy our porno DVD: Adam <3 Myrrah.” With plot holes and obvious gaps for someone to slap another game on top. Although the odd bit of story really did tug on the heart. And as for the weapon skins? Well. Yeah, no. They were okay. But I’m not paying for any, bloody swine. And one thing I know annoyed a lot of people is that they encouraged people to buy games to unlock “special characters” well that was bollocks wasn’t it? Shadow Complex: No unlock, Unreal: No unlock, PC GoW: Shitty weapon skin. And though they explained it wasn’t their fault, they weren’t exactly sincere about it.
Lord of the Rings war in the North! I’ve been following this game, like a baby hooked on crack follows sugar; with the same conclusion. “Holy crap, holy crap, holy crap this is going to be awesome! Aw..” The game was fun but I realised why, it was pretty much only because I was sat insulting the characters with my friends. And while I think the game is still enjoyable I honestly thought there would be a bit more depth, lack of skills, spells and er, can’t think of another word beginning with “s”, wait! Shenanigans. Yeah, shenanigans. A lack of these lead to an enjoyable but distinctly average game. And the fact everyone can find hidden things, really? That’s a lame super power “Hidden door noticer”
Call of Duty MW 3, since Call of Duty 4 no First Person Shooter has ever lived up to the high standard, nothing has ever deafened Call of Duty 4 in greatness, but at least some try! Mondern Warfare 3 simply felt like they couldn’t care less, because they knew it would sell. Skyrim still did a lot and you still get a good bang for your buck, Call of Duty MW3 you get about a day or two of gameplay, the story is done and the online is already boring, within those two days, I wanted to throw mine in the bin. “Why didn’t you oh dear Custard?” I hear you ask, well because it goes good with beef. Mmm, lasery.
Okay, this one will be a little difficult for me. Battlefield 3, I never even bought this and I was quite the battlefield fan back in the day. But all my experience with this resulted in one thing: It sucks. A conclusion that many are coming too. I want to comment more but I can’t, I really can’t.
Body count, black + new game = Super-happy-joy-time!? No, Black + New game = super-sad-crappy-time. The game seems over packed with adrenaline, but it feels too slow, too easy and really there’s not much going on. The whole game just felt a bit broken and kind of lazy, with dull gameplay and poor AI. A lot of people were looking forward to this, “No explosion will be the same!” a lot of people didn’t care about that, they wanted good game play. They were disappointed.
So that’s what I’ve got. Hope you’re not too pissed, if you are then go to the toilet.
