Month of Mayhem

Month of Mayhem

May 9, 2011 |  by  |  News

This month is shaping up to be a great month for gamers, and I wanted to go over a few titles dropping. I have some personal opinions on them and wanted some feedback from our reader’s on what they think.

5/10: Brink

Developer: Splash Damage

Publisher: Bethesda

Thoughts: This game really has my attention for a few reasons. The title is labeled a shooter but it has deep character customization and has a seamless online and offline environment. The experience you gain and items you unlock carry over from offline to online play. The SMART movement that was developed looks really promising. The SMART movement lets you use a one button press to vault over objects in the environment or slide under them. The SMART system allows you to keep firing your weapon and in my opinion could lead to this title having the smoothest movement in a shooter to date. The ability to have up to seven of your friends online in a co-op mode at one time is also a great aspect of this title. The almost limitless number of different weapon and clothing combinations for your character gives you a unique feel. My overall feel of this title is that it can be a new fresh face in the shooter genre, and provide gamer’s looking for a break from Call of Duty.

5/17: L.A. Noire

Developer: Rockstar Games & Team Bondi

Publisher: Rockstar Games

Thoughts: The titles that Rockstar Games develops are always quality and have gamers excited for their next project. I myself will admit I don’t have the same love for Rockstar titles as most gamer’s, but I am in no way looking to knock L.A. Noire. This title looks amazing and ambitious and that’s what I love about it. I just hope that it doesn’t fall to the same issues that cause me to stop playing most Rockstar Games half way through. I always become engrossed in Rockstar titles like Grand Theft Auto and Red Dead, but I then become bored. This again is my own personal opinion but I hope that L.A. Noire has a deep story and great detective missions that keep me engrossed. I really want a challenge as well, I wasn’t a fan of how easy Red Dead was. I really think this title is going to shine bright and I am looking forward to it.

5/31: Hunted The Demon’s Forge

Developer: inXile Entertainment

Publisher: Bethesda Softworks

Thoughts: I admit I hadn’t heard much or known much about this game until a few weeks ago. I love a good co-op experience and this game has caught my eye for that reason. The closest comparison to this game I can think of is Resident Evil 5. This game is designed as a co-op experience you can choose from one of two characters. The first character is your typical sword and shield warrior and the other a female archer. This may seem like a boring typical set up to a lame co-op title, but with Bethesda involved I am excited. The fact that this game is built from the ground up to be a co-op experience has me confident it will end up a quality product.

WELL NOW YOU KNOW MY THOUGHTS AND HOPES FOR THESE THREE TITLES THAT ARE COMING SOON WHAT DO YOU THE READER THINK?!?!

I know for a fact I will be getting BRINK and L.A. Noire. I have really grown tired of the Call of Duty series. I’m still on the fence for Hunted.

My eyes will be glued to my TV screen for sure this month.
