London Philharmonic Orchestra Releases Second Game Music Anthology

October 24, 2012 |  by  |  News

Remember the Lord of the Rings trilogy? Don’t be stupid, of course you do. Don’t you remember sitting in theaters, widely smiling with glee as you watched familiar faces from the books spring to life on the silver screen? Well, it took more than just actors, sets, and directors to make those movies the blockbuster successes that they were: The real UNSUNG heroes are, of course, the conductors and musicians who injected each scene and battle with mood-setting music. You’ll be happy to know that the orchestra responsible for the Lord of the Rings music are also geeks, and as a testament to that, are preparing to release their second CD of Video Game music on iTunes on November 6th.

Called The Greatest Video Game Music 2 (you can buy the first here, if interested), this 17-track CD will have music ranging from the noble to the adventurous to the just plain epic. The tracks are:

Assassin’s Creed: Revelations – Main Theme
The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim – Far Horizons
The Legend of Zelda: Wind Waker – Dragon Roost Island
Final Fantasy VII – One-Winged Angel
Mass Effect 3 – A Future for the Krogan/An End Once And For All
Halo – Never Forget/Peril
Sonic the Hedgehog – A Symphonic Suite
Chrono Trigger – Main Theme
Luigi’s Mansion – Main Theme
Kingdom Hearts – Fate of the Unknown
Super Metroid – A Symphonic Poem
Diablo III – Overture
Batman: Arkham City – Main Theme
Deus Ex: Human Revolution – Icarus Main Theme
Fez – Adventure
Portal – Still Alive
Little Big Planet – Orb Of Dreamers (The Cosmic Imagisphere)

For only 7 bucks, it’s not a bad collection. You can pre-order it here, if you want, or if you’d like a taste of what you’ll be buying into, you can preview three of their tracks on their youtube channel, which is right here.

The Skyrim one gave me chills. Or maybe that’s just the temperature, I’ll never know.
