Hironobu Sakaguchi Should Return And Help The Final Fantasy Franchise

May 1, 2012 |  by  |  Editorials

As a follower of the Final Fantasy franchise, it’s quite obvious that I also follow the work of it’s creator Hironobu Sakaguchi. Whether he is an executive producer or director, I pick up every single title that Sakaguchi has been involved in. Ranging from Blue Dragon to Kingdom Hearts, I’ve been keeping my eyes on this video game genius.

So you know I am looking forward to playing “The Last Story”. It’s been a long time since he’s a directed a video game. He is a genius in the RPG genre. So when I saw the gameplay online, I was ecstatic.

As much as I look forward to seeing Sakaguchi’s career continue to soar, I have a tiny request for him. I want him to return to the Final Fantasy franchise and bring it back to the days when we weren’t confused while playing.

Let’s be honest everyone. The franchise has gone into a different direction since he left. Ever since Final Fantasy X-2, which was the last Final Fantasy game he worked on as a producer, I have seen the franchise go into a different direction. I haven’t made it to the end of number twelve. None of the western themes were included in number thirteen. There are twists and turns everywhere I go.

There were moments when I put down the controller and said “This puzzle box is too much. Final Fantasy, stop being so confusing.”

As much as I love my franchise, I’ve been having thoughts of leaving. That’s huge in my opinion. As a fan of Final Fantasy who has played every title since the day he was born, it’s somewhat devastating to hear from myself that I want to leave. These recent titles have gone crazy.

I want Hironobu Sakaguchi to come back and help out the franchise. His creative mind is what made the franchise what it is. I’m sure he knows how to spin it around and give it another evolution.

I can’t wait for “The Last Story”, but I want Sakaguchi to come back and help the child he created, which is Final Fantasy.
