HALO 4 Preview - Best Of The

HALO 4 Preview – Best Of The “Trilogy”

October 9, 2012 |  by  |  Previews

I always get the HALO games, for the sheer fact that they are so big, that I feel like I’m missing out if I don’t. But when the trilogy got…three? Spin offs, then a fourth core game, I got a little irate.

But I have to say, this one actually plays, looks and sounds great. The graphics are sleek and atmospheric, which really adds depth to the game. The shadowing effects are really well mastered in the game too, and for some reason the rocks are stupidly well detailed. Though most things are in the game.

The shotgun sounds over powered but obviously, at range is pants. And actually in the heat of battle not always the best choice, the game is less about running and mashing melee and firing shells in a spray now.

The game looks, and feels new. It’s not been recycled in anyway it seems. The basics are still there, you can still be a hero if you play right, taking on multiple enemies at once.

The campaign will have 4 player co op, all players will be masterchief, and they joked that the start of the game sees three of the players just waiting in tubes as the main player has a bit of a chat with an NPC, but it sounds like this is actually true, maybe they should fix that. That being said, they’re not exactly missing out on gripping gameplay, and I assume you can hear everything being said…I hope.

The game now really looks at skill, not just spraying, the battle rifle is as epic as ever and can easily pick off people who charge at you throwing grenades left right and centre. The game also rewards players a lot more for awesome kills and slaughter. For example, if two “kings” have a fight, and you win you get “King jouster” which rewards you extra EXP.

This game is set to push the bar a little higher for HALO, so good job guys. Look out for it in November.
