So before I review this game I do have to point out that I have yet to finish it, but if I waited that long I would be 64 and possibly blind.

Fallout new Vegas, Released on the Xbox 360, PS3 and the PC is a gargantuan game. It is hard to sum up in words just how epic it is, actually gargantuan was pretty good. You begin the game in a doctor’s house, your character gains consciousness only to find out that you where shot in the head by some dapper gangster and the only reason you are here is, because a sentient machine dug you up and dragged you out of your grave. This pretty much sets the tone for the whole game, whilst it is quite silly it is dark and quite creepy as well. Now if you have played fallout 3 this game will be very familiar to you, in other poorly made games that might be a negative but it actually work well in this. “if it aint broke don’t fix it” comes to mind, although there are some deservedly needed tweaks and add-ons, e.g. The game now gives us the luxury of different ammo types, incendrey rounds for my grenade launcher are a personal favourite of mine, FUCK YOU MUTANT FREAK!!! (There is a lot of that) And there is now an option for hardcore mode, which basically means your character has to eat, drink and sleep, this adds a whole new layer to the game and actually makes it more immersive. There is nothing more attractive then a woman drinking out of a toilet for sustenance. Once you have created your character and selected your skills, you are kicked out of your house and left to our own devises, this is the first time that I have actually felt overwhelmed by a game.

Now I do heartily recommend a perk which you can give your character at the start called “wild wasteland“, this has lead me to see and do very strange things, one of which was an event where I was assaulted by a pack of angry nanny’s all armed to the teeth with disapproving tut’s and rolling pins to my skull. Fortunately my grenade machine gun made little work of them. The story is engrossing and has a genuine feel of consequence, there are so many options and decisions that I do truly believe that I could complete this game three times and still miss alot. For example, when you get to the strip in New Vegas you find out that you could actually take it all for yourself, or help the current boss. This theme carries on to other factions as well, such as the background war going on between the NCR (the goodies) and the legion (defiantly baddies) Why not kill one vicious dictator, and become one yourself at Vegas??? These are the kind of options which are given to you.

The game is as brutal as ever, there are prostitutes, random assaults, monsters that want to kill you and plenty of crazy people to confuse you, and head shots are as gory as ever. Suffice to say it is hard to review a game this big, it is a brilliant game. If you liked fallout 3 then buy it, if you didn’t still buy it, as they have fixed many of the previous games problems such as shoddy shooting mechanics. It will suck you in for hours and hours, and will still leave you wanting. What more could you ask for????
