Here’s our hands on preview Darksiders 2
The weeks are counting down until the release of the sequel that showcases a war between heaven and hell – and it takes place on planet Earth. Developed by Vigil and published by THQ, Darksiders II is an action-adventure/action role-playing game with so many epic trailers it wouldn’t make sense not to be excited.
So, why should you get the game? For those who haven’t played the original Darksiders, it’s a glorious mix between God of War, Legend of Zelda and it even has a few Portal elements in there. The first game was critically acclaimed, and the second game is going to be equally filled with tricky puzzles, brutal demons and the awesome hack n’ slash, combo-focused combat from the first. The main character has changed, however, from ‘War’ to his sly, stealthy and agile brother, ‘Death’.
The game is being released on all platforms, and follows the storyline the four horsemen of the apocalypse who’ve been summoned to the battle on Earth. The characters exist in Christian eschatology and play a huge role in the book of Revelations, but the games really bring them to life in Joe Mad’s unique art style. You might know the guy from various Marvel comics, if you’re a fan, and his amazing artwork is so obviously present in both games – it’s certainly what made me pick the original game up when I first saw the cover.
New additions are a hugely expanded map, side quests (which, looking back on the original game, are going to be a really significant step forward), co-op options and involvement with all of the horsemen. There will also be loot and item drops which will have enchantments to power up Death’s Wrath Powers!
If you’re not sold already (you’re crazy), here’s a new trailer to get you pumped for the upcoming gritty, post-apocalyptic game
Embed broken? Here’s a direct link – http://youtu.be/iHgP_5YEKo4I, for one, can’t wait for Darksiders 2 – it’s definitely one of my most anticipated games of the year. Pre-order now for bonus content, or pick up the game on August 16th. (Or 21st if you’re in the EU.)
On a super useful sidenote – fans of the original game can purchase a replica Chaoseater (War’s sword) from trueswords.com. I’ve got one of those heavy beasts sitting in the corner of my room, and it makes a lovely addition to any collection!
