Bossa Make Another Good Facebook Game

Bossa Make Another Good Facebook Game

October 1, 2012 |  by  |  News, Previews

I hated facebook games not too long ago, until Bossa came along with “Monster Mind” and made me reconsider my standing on them. Since then we’ve seen some pretty decent ones, but ultimately they’ll still have to work damn hard to win me over. I hate the freemium model, and pretty much everything to do with it.

So, when Bossa actually make a game I like you can appreciate how good it must be. I’ve never actually watched Merline, the TV series. However, the game looks like it will still appeal to me. Obviously the people that will enjoy it most are fans of the series. As it expands on the story, characters and universe through quests.

One of the great things about Bossa is that they know multiplayer, when they released Monster Mind, they knew that really what a lot of people want to do is make each other cry. So they let players smack around their friend’s cities. (The idea of the game was a little like sim city but with more monsters). On Merlin, we see the other side of the spectrum, not ruining your friends’ day, but rather working with them to beat the game in co-op, and it’s more than 2 player I believe! 4 I think, but no promises.

My main issue with freemium is that they’ll usually say “Fuck off unless you pay us” right at a key moment, however Bossa told us, that in their game, if you’re in a quest it won’t do this, at any point. You run out of energy and have to wait for it to recharge or buy more, but it won’t ever cut you off mid-mission.

They touched a little on customization, but ultimately it’s a game on the series. So you can expect the regular characters, however face, skin tone, and gender can be changed. They’re also talking about building up from the ground based on feedback, and that they’re keen to add more customizable items to the game.

The game also promises a few different kinds of attack; melee, range and magic, each one comes as an ability, so you’ll be able to mix and match attacks as a team using powerful abilities to smite your enemies. We also asked if they’re trying to reach to hardcore gamers, and they actually said no! They’re trying to add depth to simple games, they’re diving deeper than most companies do with facebook games.

Keep watching for exciting updates, news and more on this game! And sign up to the closed beta here.
