RECCERS REVIEW OF THE WEEEEEEK!!!!!

BORDERLANDS, out on the xbox 360 (that’s the good one) and the ps3 (that’s the sell out one) is one of those games that sticks with you for a long time. In a good way that is, not the “operation flashpoint” kind of way.

It is a first person shooter that likes to be humorous but at the same time incredibly violent, e.g., you have tiny midgets running at you with axes far too big for them, whilst screaming like girls. Now the only solution to this midget problem, in the game that is, as I am sure most people would just buy him/it a drink or something and chill him out, is to blow his tiny head off, suffice to say this is not a game for kids. Or midgets.

Other examples come to mind, such as shooting people with acid guns, and watching them turn into tiny green puddles, puddles that look exactly like the battered remnants of your nose on a tatty piece of toilet paper.

So far I have only mentioned the darkly humorous side to this game, but it does have so much more, its graphics and presentation as a whole is slick and quite unique, as it uses cell shading effects to quite good affect. I remember looking at a rock and thinking it looked exactly like background scenery from a loony toons cartoon, before I was swiftly killed by a pack of angry mutant retards.

The game play is similar to role playing games, in that you spend time collecting loot and gaining experience for your character, but it doesn’t feel restricted by the RPG (Role Playing Game) element, and it tries to feed the need to just pick up and play a game by offering an accessible weapons system and scaled enemies, so you never feel completely out of your depth. Plus you can play cooperatively online with three other buddies.

CLOSING THOUGHTS

To sum it up in the fewest amount of words, this game is fallout 3, meets mad max.

You get to blow up midgets, and drive around in a buggy which has a cannon turret on top.

Go buy it.
