Air Port Fire Fighter Sim Review

Driving, fires, and sirens – it’s all in a day’s work for our ever vigilant fire service. Driving, sirens and planes – it’s all in a day’s work for our less vigilant airport fire service.

When I say “fire service” I hear many of you cry for joy over the idea of being a pyromaniac well, put down the party poppers, I’m about to be a party pooper.

Of course you play as a firefighter in this action packed thrill ride, what could be more exciting than driving with the sirens in the background? That’s right, nothing! So what can you expect from an action packed game like airport firefighter sim? Well you would be surprised, the amount of false alarms is pretty damn amazing. Throughout my entire time in the airport I found the only people walking around were my own fire fighting crew, so who pulled the fire alarm? Well it couldn’t have been the pesky neighbour kids, it couldn’t have been the fire men (They’re far too upstanding) and it couldn’t have been me, so that leaves one explanation…ghosts!

That’s the background of it, the game opens with you meeting your chief, who really slowly shows you around the base (it took me literally an hour and a half.) about half way through the tour you can just about see a bus leave, and you realise, there’s no turning back now. And, if you’re like me and watched the bus drive slowly away you will realise – you have lost your chief and not only that, but every fireman seems to be a clone of him! It did reveal something interesting though, some of the men use the women’s toilets, I imagine this is because there are no women fire fighters. Can’t let those toilets go to waste!

The chief will show you just about everything, even helicopters! But you won’t be able to actually use them, he just thought he would show you. (Or atleast I don’t think you can use them, the game was too tense for me to finish) there are three drivable vehicles, one small truck, one medium size truck and yeah, one large truck. Now, if you’re like me (Awesome and handsome) you would have immediately gone for the largest fire truck, expecting it to shout “Firemen, roll out.” Before it transformed, sadly you are met with “You have been assigned to a different vehicle today” which obviously means you’re just not ready to ride a transforming alien robot, maybe next time

The musical score is pretty epic, fast and vicious (No, seriously, it’s really over the top) it makes driving around against the clock really extreme and exciting.

So how does the game work? I hear you calling with excitement, well you hop in your car and look around for holes in the gates, then you get a call – it’s an emergency, ghosts have set fire to a bin! It’s go time bitches! You accept the mission, then a clock appears in the corner, you have to reach the fire before it’s too late, or all hell will break loose (Actually it just tells you that you have failed) So you speed across the air port, then put out the probably non-existent fire.

What happens if you crash? Oh no! Well you can always get out and walk you lazy sod, but remember your fire extinguisher, because I learned the hard way that jumping on the fire doesn’t work, you won’t die, but you won’t get rid of the fire either.

The days stroll on and you gain points, eventually you can have the big fire truck, sadly I didn’t survive to see that day.

So, with a musical score to rival Star Wars, and gameplay to match that of er, something good. I don’t know The Darkness 2, I can say with a smile this game is more than deserving of an 8/10.

On the off chance an air port fire fighter is reading this, I’m sure you’re just as vigilant as a regular fire fighter, perhaps you should wear a super hero costume.
